Just woundering how I would go about password protecting my channel so i don't have random people showing up on it.

For the record, I don't have a channel registered yet, but i know how to (having done it before with  a different server, and reading the info on this site).

You can set your channel mode +s (secret), then it won't be on the list and other people won't be able to see it (and if they don't know it exists, they won't join)
You can set your channel mode +i (by invitation), then only people you invite in will join
Or you can set the Key, so that only users that provide the key can join

usually +i or +s is good enough, but +k (key) gives you that added layer of security in knowing someone won't find it by mistake.  Additionally, although it requires more work and some creativity, you can basically ban everyone that doesn't come from a set group of isps or ips.
